Who needs MSHA Training?
Training plays an elemental role in the Mine Safety and Health Administration's (MSHA) effort to help protect workers. Workers and supervisors need knowledge and motivation in order to stay safe. They have to be aware of how to perform their jobs safely, and they must learn to recognize and control the hazards in their work places.
Contractors doing temporary work at mine sites are often exposed to hazards they are not quite accustomed to identifying. Our training is geared toward these workers to help them stay safe at mine sites.
Contractors regularly exposed to mine hazards, or who are maintenance or service workers contracted by the operator to work at the mine for frequent or extended periods, must receive comprehensive training. Regularly exposed means either frequent exposure, that is exposure to hazards at the mine on a frequent rather than consecutive day basis (a pattern of recurring exposure) or extended exposure of 5 consecutive workdays, or both.
